Seniors Real Estate Specialist - SRES
REALTOR® | SRES® | UofA MBA | BSBA-Real Estate | 15+ Years Experience
I am a native Tucsonan, beginning my life's adventures at Tucson Medical Center, but I've also lived in Oklahoma, Mississippi, Colorado and several cities in California before moving to Oro Valley in 1993.
Since early manhood, Real Estate has been a material part of my life. Starting in high school and during early college Civil Engineering & Architectural studies, I created several custom home designs complete with build ready blueprints. In 1978, I was issued my first California Real Estate Sales License and worked for a local family brokerage. My growing passion for the industry led me to switch my Bachelor of Science major from engineering to business, eventually earning my BSBA degree with double majors in Real Estate and Finance.
In late 1987, along with the "Black Monday" financial market meltdown, interest rate surge and building moratoriums being imposed by local governments to slow things down, the local California real estate market I serviced went into a tailspin. Little to nothing was selling so, I accepted a "temporary" Business Analyst position with Hughes Missile Systems Engineering Division in Canoga Park, California…you know, just until the real estate market could rebound. The next year, with the recovery still slowly underway, I decided to accept a permanent position with Hughes. In 1993-94, Hughes closed and moved their Missile Systems Engineering Division to co-locate with their Manufacturing operations in Tucson. Quite honestly, it was the best career move I've ever made. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with Oro Valley and the Greater Tucson Area because it offered me a compatible, active and healthy lifestyle for my mind, body and soul.
I met the love of my life at a local Starbucks, and after several hours of stimulating conversation, I knew that I had just met my future. Liz and I became engaged on Anini Beach in Kauai surrounded by very dear friends, and we were wed in a beautiful outdoor setting within Tohono Chul Park. She is a National Board Certified Teacher at Helen Keeling Elementary School, and is also the loving mother of three wonderful young adults and our "sock-thief" Beagle...Emmy.
After working for 27 years at my not so "temporary gig” with Raytheon, I decided to accept early retirement in 2013. I took some time off to explore and re-calibrate priorities and ultimately decided to go back to the future, so to speak, and rekindle my long term passion for Real Estate.
Ever since receiving my Arizona sales license in 2014, I’ve had the good fortune to work with and learn from some of the most professional and successful REALTORS®, Office Managers and Brokers active in the greater Tucson area. From their mentoring and my own experience, I know that personal relationships and trust are critical to the successful development and sustainability of every real estate agent’s business. Both are still established and nurtured the old fashioned way, which also happens to be my way…requiring follow-through on promises, honesty, open and regular communications, unwavering integrity and strict adherence to ethical actions and business practices.
I find that going back to my real estate roots was the perfect choice for me to make at this stage of my life. I've achieved a fair share of personal and professional success along the way and when I think back, there has always been key people in my corner providing valuable guidance to help me make the right decisions and to also learn from the wrong ones. Helping others to achieve their residential investment and lifestyle goals is not only a passion of mine, its in my DNA, it allows me to once again align my professional work with my personal and spiritual values and ideals. I get to walk the talk of my favorite quote: "What we do for ourselves dies with us...what we do for others remains and is immortal."
With all that said, I would be honored to put my passion, integrity and unique combination of Real Estate knowledge, skills and abilities to work on your behalf. Should you, or anybody you know, wish to explore the possibility of making a residential purchase or sale, I invite you to contact me so we can review your options and how I will get you moving in the right direction.
