MARY “MONTE” SMITH, MBA, was born, raised and educated in Tucson, AZ – a native who never wanted to live anywhere else. After graduating from the University of Arizona with her BA in Elementary Education, Tucson economics at that time produced only part-time teaching positions. Monte, who worked several jobs to put her through college but still had student loans, wanted a full-time position. She ended up in the business world by default, later returning to college, to earn her Masters of Business Administration in 1990.

Monte has always loved participating in athletic events and in her youth was a competitor, a bug that bit in the middle school years and continued all through her college years at the University of Arizona, Even though she played softball, volleyball, and danced, track & Field was her favorite and most accomplished sport. She competed in women’s high hurdles, 100 meter dash, Long jump and the ‘anchor’ member of the relay team. Yep – a fast white girl. Ha! Today, Monte does some strength and fitness coaching, as a hobby, as well as rides horses- another passion she loves to do in her spare time. Monte also feels strongly about helping helping the Humane Society, Youth on their Own, Wounded Warriors, Pawsitively Cats and the Heart of Tucson. As a young girl, hanging out at the barn was the perfect day. It’s the love of horses that has motivated Monte throughout her life, from staying fit to becoming financially self-sufficient at a young age. Her training & competition background has transcended into to the equine world, where she’s been active in training young, deconditioned, and/or fearful horses, working on basic groundwork and horsemanship.

Those same character traits that made a good athlete, her discipline, patience, persistence, along with her hard work ethic are the same attributes used in representing her real estate clients. With the mind-set of an educator, that wants to help people in selling their home or land, finding the right place to live, with the lease amount of hassle and worry. Monte has had the fortunate pleasure to represent builders, investors, 1st-time home buyers, family and friends in her 20-years of real estate business.

Monte specializes in Tucson’s Tanque Verde Valley, any horse property anywhere in the metro area, and enjoys representing clients in the Central, North, East, Southeast, and Vail areas of town. Builders & Investors have often taken her outside of these boundaries, so basically she is open to any challenge. For honest, caring, professional services, especially if you like horses, homes, land, and/or building ~ give her a call.

Mary Monte Smith is an incredible agent, and she is on top of the transaction the entire time. I would use her again in a heartbeat. I have had a real estate brokers license for over 40 years, so that’s about as good an endorsement as it gets.

I can’t imagine working with anyone else but Monte Smith. She knows exactly what the buyer/seller goals are and without a doubt we make them without any issues. I know she does a lot of work behind the scenes, because for me, selling and buying is extremely easy on my end. I look forward to working with her selling my 2nd home. Thank you Monte!
