Tips for Home Shopping in a Seller's Market

June 3, 2013

The inventory of available homes for sale is tight right now and buyer demand is high. That can lead to a challenge for home buyers to successfully find and purchase the right property. One of the most important aspects of your house hunt is finding out about new inventory quickly, before other buyers. Here are a few tips to help you be the first to know.

1. Work with a Long Realty agent. Our agents work closely with other Long Realty agents in their office and in the company, and many times they hear about upcoming listings before they actually come on the market.

2. Use the website. Not all real estate websites have current information on listings; some only update listing information once in a while and some not even from the MLS, which is the most accurate source of listing data. updates every 15 minutes directly from the local MLS, so you can always be sure you are looking at the most up to date inventory.

3. Save properties and searches on When you create an account on, you can save your favorite properties or save your property searches. You will receive automated email updates from the Virtual Home Finder feature, as frequently as hourly if you wish, on any property updates or new listings.

4. Use the Long Realty mobile app. Our new mobile app features the same up-to-date listing information as and offers you a very easy to use tool to search for properties on your mobile device. You can also view recently sold properties in our app. Available for iPad, iPhone and Android. Get the app by clicking on the "mobile" link on or go to from your mobile device.

Once you find a property, making an offer quickly can be important as you may be competing with other buyers. In fact, in a seller’s market you may find yourself bidding against other buyers for the same property. All the more reason to work with a professional Long Realty agent.

Let us help you find your ideal property now. Our knowledge, connections and technology can help give you a competitive advantage.
